Your wedding day is a big deal so it is understandable if you are getting nervous about it. If you are not one for being the centre of attention then having a room full of people looking at you constantly for a whole day can be a daunting experience.
But it needn’t put a downer on your day; remember these important facts and enjoy the day for what it is: Your Wedding Day.
She Loves You
Your wedding day is ultimately about two people: your Bride and you. It sounds corny but it is all that matters. Chances are your Bride is going to be just as nervous as you are so as long as you are there to support each other then all is well.
If you are finding the attention hard then just take a look at your beautiful wife and remember why you are there…
There to Support You
The people attending your wedding are family and friends who care about your Bride and you. They are there to support you on your big day. No-one is there to watch you fail therefore no-one is going to mind if you look anxious or make a mistake in your speech (not that you will of course!)
Practice Makes Perfect
Practice really does help you overcome wedding nerves and can fill you with confidence. There are a few things you can practice to make sure they run smoothly and to ensure you remain calm, cool and collected!
Your Vows:
This is perhaps the most dreaded part of the wedding day when it comes to nerves but help is at hand! If you have chosen traditional vows then you can find them online and rehearse them, if you have written your own then the same applies: read them until they are etched on your brain.
If it helps, you could always sit down with your Bride and practice together. If your vows are a surprise then practice with your Best Man.
Your Speech:
Take the time, in advance, to sit down and write out your wedding speech. You can make slight alterations on the day if you want but make sure that you have a basic structure before-hand that you know inside out. This means that when it comes to standing up and telling the guests how happy you are, you will do so with confidence and a smile on your face!
Your First Dance:
This magical moment makes any wedding and is bound to produce a few tears from certain family members, however it can be nerve wracking though if you have two left feet! To help find your rhythm enrol for dancing lessons either with, or without your partner, and make sure you know all your moves ready for when you hit the dance floor.
Relax!
The wedding day is the ultimate expression of love between two people so just remember to relax and enjoy the day!
